The forwarding company ALPI has acquired Padborg-based Spedition Christensen A/S, thereby significantly expanding its activities in the French market, among others
Spedition Christensen was established in 1978 by Bent Nasser, and like ALPI, it is a value-driven company. - We share the same foundation and values, says Kjeld Tygesen, ALPI Denmark, and Bent Nasser, co-owner, and CEO of Spedition Christensen, and continues - this has made conversations about sales and acquisitions somewhat easier. For both companies, it's all about good customer relations, service, and presence combined with professionally skilled freight forwarders who know how to navigate the often-complicated world of logistics. So, we are extremely pleased that this agreement has been finalized. ALPI formally took over the Padborg company on May 1, 2023, and since then due diligence has been carried out.
The French connection
Since the establishment of Spedition Christensen in 1978, the company has specialized in transport to and from France - "We are familiar with the business culture in France and speak the language," says Nasser. And this market has been a focus area for ALPI in recent years. - We already have considerable traffic to and from France, and with the acquisition of Spedition Christensen, we are expanding both tonnage and opportunities, and we are gaining more colleagues who have extensive experience with the special French market. We expect a lot from this, Tygesen adds.
Past and future
About the background to the sale of the well-run company in Padborg, company director Bent Nasser says: "After more than 52 years in the industry, including 45 years in our own company and an age of almost 70 years, the time has come to think about the future and generational change. We have found the right solution in collaboration with ALPI. I have loved the industry and my job, our good customers, and colleagues, and it is with sadness that I will soon be gone from the industry, but on the other hand, the timing and sale are right for both our employees and customers.
Four current co-owners of Spedition Christensen - Conny Nielsen, Ole Gade, Gert Andresen, and Jakob Nørby - will continue under ALPI management. Likewise, Bent Nasser will be part of the merger of the two companies for a transitional period.
ALPI already has a small department in Padborg, which primarily deals with rail and intermodal solutions. Tom Otzen, department manager, is appointed a new manager for Spedition Christensen, and the two Padborg departments will move together into Spedition Christensen's premises as soon as possible. Kjeld Tygesen - We now need to look at how we can best implement Spedition Christensen and the employees of ALPI and carry out a real merger. But the joint company culture ensures the continuation of the excellent work that takes place daily in both companies, Nasser and Tygesen conclude.
