2020 has been a difficult year for many and therefore, more so than ever before, it is important that at this time of year we make time for colleagues, friends and family.
This year Alpi UK once again asked their staff to nominate charitable organisations who may have personally helped and supported them or their families through a particularly difficult period of their life.
The staff replied with an abundance of enthusiasm and verve and the chosen charity for Alpi UK’s 2020 Charity Donation was Macmillian Cancer Support.
I was devastated to be diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2019. I had to have ongoing treatment consisting of both surgery and chemotherapy. On occasions, I had to be admitted to hospital for additional treatment which enabled me to carry on with chemotherapy. There then followed more surgery and four weeks of radiotherapy.
It was a daunting and exhausting journey, both physically and emotionally. Some days were worse than others, but the MacMillan nurses were at the end of the phone whenever things became a little too much. They would always go out of their way to reassure and help me through the next stage of my treatment.
I had the all clear in May this year which was the best news I could have asked for because not everyone is lucky enough to get that news.
I am delighted that MacMillan Cancer Support will receive Alpi UK’s charity donation as I would never have got through what I did without them.
